The maths
A beat is one count, a bar in 4/4 has four counts. Seconds per bar = 60 ÷ BPM × 4 = 240 ÷ BPM. Multiply by the number of bars for the length of a verse.

Quick answer: in 4/4 time, one bar lasts 240 ÷ BPM seconds. At 90 BPM that is 2.67 seconds, so 16 bars last about 42.7 seconds.
A rule of thumb: about 8 to 12 syllables a bar at a relaxed flow, more for fast rap.
| Bars | 80 BPM | 90 BPM | 100 BPM | 140 BPM |
